Doctor Valerie Price graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the College of Engineering, Science and Mathematics. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University where she graduated cum laude in 2004. Professionally, she enjoys internal medicine and dentistry.

She interned at Brookfield Zoo in the Chicago area where she trained and treated dolphins and pinnipeds (walruses, seals and sea lions). She also completed an externship at Midwest Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital where she treated reptiles, rabbits, rodents, birds and marsupials. Her passion along with the care and treatment of dogs and cats is exotics.

Prior to her veterinary career, Doctor Price worked for the United States Geological Survey (USGS.) She tested Lake Michigan water for contaminants, including E. coli, and helped to developed a non-chemical, environmentally safe method to control the Zebra Mussel invasion of the Great Lakes. She also surveyed the reptile and amphibian populations of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. While in Colorado, she studied the Big Brown Bat for Rabies and West Nile Virus and is published in the “Journal of Wildlife Diseases.”

She and her husband, who is completing a residency at the University of Utah, are avid naturalists and have camped and hiked in many of the national parks in the United States. Together they have many pets. Among them is a lab-mix named Sebastian, two chinchillas, Audrey and Chewy, and two rabbits, Ember and Chava.

Doctor Price started her Veterinary Career at Allied Animal Hospital in Virginia where she has made many life-long friends. She then came to Mountain View Animal Hospital and has had the good fortune of working with their outstanding and caring staff.
